Netronome and Titan IC Systems Partner to Offer 40 Gbps Content Processing

27 April 2010

Titan IC Systems announces new partnership with Netronome to provide 40Gbps content processing solutions.

SANTA CLARA, CA (April 26, 2010) – Netronome, the leading developer of network flow processors, today announced a partnership with Titan IC Systems, a world leader in hardware engines for content and network processing. The partnership combines the companies' innovative technologies to deliver a new solution to designers of network and security products that require granular, programmable content processing with line-rate throughput for 40 and 100 Gbps networks. The solution features the seamless integration of Netronome’s NFP-3240 network flow processors and Titan IC’s Regular Expression Processor (RXP) technology.

“The close coupling of regular expression (RegEx) and network processing into a single programmable platform bridges the gap between flow and content processing tasks,” said Dr. Sakir Sezer, CTO of Titan IC.  “Customers will benefit from a reduction in programming complexity and a significant improvement in overall system performance.”

The joint solution combines Netronome’s award winning 40 Gbps network flow processor with Titan IC’s RXP technology. The integrated solution is specifically designed for the most demanding L2-L7 networking products that require application awareness, content inspection, security processing, line-rate throughput and programmable processing. Applications for the solutions include: stateful firewalls, deep packet inspection engines, content and URL filtering gateways, intrusion prevention systems, and secure switches and routers. The solution includes hardware reference designs for the secure switch and router market, as well as PCIe-based acceleration cards and ATCA/AMC form-factors for network and security appliances.

“The integrated solution leverages Netronome’s high performance flow identification and reassembly technology as well as Titan IC’s flexible concurrent pattern matching architecture,” said Johann Tönsing, chief architect and senior vice president of software engineering at Netronome. “The resulting designs are capable of processing many flows and regular expressions in parallel to deliver a deterministic solution for high throughput content processing.”
